The Ultimate Guide to PVC and Vinyl Clothing Care

Keep Your Shine:

Welcome, Angels! You’ve invested in a stunning piece of PVC or vinyl from our Black Level collection, and now it's time to learn how to keep it looking flawless. With the right care, these bold, high-shine materials will remain a powerful part of your wardrobe for years to come.

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and vinyl clothing are known for their glossy, statement-making finish. But unlike regular fabrics, they require a special touch. Here’s how to clean, store, and maintain your Angel Clothing garments to ensure they stay perfect.

1. Cleaning Your Garments

Forget the washing machine! The harsh cycles, heat, and detergents can damage the unique surface of PVC and vinyl.

  • Spot Cleaning: For minor marks or smudges, simply wipe the area with a soft, damp cloth. A microfiber cloth is excellent for this.

  • Hand Washing: If a deeper clean is needed, a hand wash is the safest method.

    • Fill a basin with lukewarm water.

    • Add a small amount of a mild, non-detergent liquid soap. Avoid powdered detergents, which can leave a residue.

    • Submerge the garment and gently wipe the surface with a soft sponge or cloth. Do not scrub harshly.

    • Rinse thoroughly with cold, clean water to remove all soap residue.

    • Avoid using harsh chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners, as they can cause the material to degrade or lose its shine.

2. Drying is Key

The drying process is just as important as the wash itself.

  • Hang to Dry: After rinsing, hang your garment on a hanger to air dry. A plastic or padded hanger is best to avoid marks.

  • Inside Out First: To ensure the inner fabric layer dries completely, hang the garment inside out first. Once that layer is dry, turn it right side out to dry the outer plastic layer.

  • No Direct Heat: Never put PVC or vinyl in a tumble dryer. The high heat can cause the material to melt, warp, or crack. Keep your garment away from direct sunlight, radiators, or other heat sources while it dries.

3. Proper Storage

How you store your PVC and vinyl items will prevent wrinkles, color transfer, and damage.

  • Hang, Don't Fold: Folding can create permanent creases or cracks. The best way to store your garment is to hang it up.

  • Prevent Color Transfer: PVC and vinyl can absorb color from other fabrics, especially in humid conditions. To prevent this, hang your item separately or in its own garment bag. If you have multiple PVC colors, particularly a white piece, a protective barrier like a pillowcase can prevent dye transfer.

  • Cool, Dry Place: Store your items in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

4. Say No to These!

To keep your clothing in pristine condition, remember to avoid:

  • Ironing: Heat is the enemy of PVC and vinyl. Ironing will melt the material.

  • Overstretching: The material has limited stretch. Excessive stretching can cause the plastic layer to lose its smooth texture and even tear.

  • Oil-Based Products: Keep your garment away from oil-based liquids, deodorants, perfumes, and lotions, as they can stain and damage the material.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure your PVC and vinyl pieces from Angel Clothing continue to turn heads and shine brightly. Now go forth and make a statement!
